Details of the programme
From concept to realisation – child rights training was organised at Kodagu University by Ms. Sumana Mathew, Dr. Padmini Child Rights Fellow of CRT along with her organisation Naavu. Students of Social Work, Kannada and Political Science totalling about 45 took part in the two days programme actively.
The programme was conducted with the support of FCW and Baalya as part of CRC education and propagation.
The University is located at a very far off place from Somavarpete and travelling to and from was a challenge. Thanks to Mr. Gouthama, President of Naavu who ferried us whenever required to the venue from Somavarapete. I reached Somavarapete on Sunday itself to reduce the last minute rush of travel to the location. and answers, responses, survey method, group interaction and discussions, case study and group activities. For most of the students it is a different experience with a methodology that involves them. They shared it and said that they would be happy to have more such programmes. But at the same time a few kept themselves absent in the second half of the first day programme, whom I had to send to the library. Some discipline is required. The students felt that they can chase the subject of child rights for their dissertation, small research, writing stories etc. Hopefully some of them will be there for the field of child rights in the coming days.
The programme concluded with distribution of certificates and getting their responses, which was positive and encouraging.
